The Emperor is not here to protect you and I rule in his name, remove her, she yelled from the throne! The concubine was banished from the court, by the Empress, the legal wife. She felt safe to eliminate the rival, to her husband’s love, while he was away on campaign with his warlords. The Empress looked upon her, in a moment of pain, quickly covered by one of hatred and jealousy, as she looked over the gifts of jewelry given, in love, to the concubine. As she walked away, with head held high, adorned, in the most valuable of jewels, crafted by the famed artisan jeweler, Chop Zuey, stones so rare, that even the Empress, herself did not possess! Hand crafted golden settings encrusted with Burmese Sapphires, Emerald Cabachonne, and Diamonds, glittered from around her neck, upon her hair and on her ears, the cost of which a peasant could not earn in 10 lifetimes. As she was being led away by the guards, the Empress screamed “you may be his love, but not his Empress!!!” Never again, the concubine vows, silently to herself, will anyone say those words to her. She will leave as a concubine and return as his Empress. Her ascent, to the throne of Imperial China, began, with her first foot step away.

This weekend I have been binge watching anything and everything “Geisha” related in programs. It is interesting to see how the culture has evolved, over time, to what it is now. The profession has always been shrouded in much controversy, with some believing that the Geishas are little more than high-class prostitutes. The Geisha has always and still is revered by Japan. We too, have such a fascination, with them, because the Geisha is as mysterious as she is beautiful. The documentaries that I watched took me on a rare journey into a hidden world traditionally closed to the western eye, where the rich traditions of Geisha bloom in the ancient capital of Japan’s Kyoto City.
The Geisha are part of a centuries old tradition that made them a vital part of that country’s society and history. There are a lot of misconceptions as to what Geishas are. I learned that the modern Geishas are usually hired to attend to guests, who are predominantly and traditionally male, during banquets, meals, parties, and other occasions or events where she demonstrates her skills through various avenues, such as dancing to music played on the shamisen, initiating games, the art of conversation, (no social media there..lol), and more. There is nothing sexual about them, as a lot of people think. They are very cultured female entertainers.
I found their world very interesting and enlightening. So I dug around in my inventory and made this look. A real life Geisha, would never dress like this, but hey, I live in Second Life, so this is my fantasy and romanticized look! Also, for those interested, there is an entire community of Geishas, within Second Life, as well!

Can’t get into Hair Fair 2018 Yet? Why not join the demo group and try the demos and start your shopping list before you go!
Each year the day before Hair Fair starts the participants send their demos to our demo group. This is so that you can spend a day trying all the styles in advance and know before you arrive what styles you want to purchase. It helps not only you have fun trying everything, but also decreases lag at the event, with fewer people trying on demos during.

See you at Hair Fair 2018…
Of by gone days when times were simpler. When sitting on the porch with your beau was a big thing. Families gathered for dinner at the table. When you ran home from school, your Mom was there, with cookies waiting. Where neighbor knew neighbor and was there for when times were good and when they were bad. Life wasn’t rushed. When you could stop on the street without fear and only anticipate a warm greeting, a doff of a hat. An era, long passed, lost in the annals of time and never to return.
